BIOGRAPHY

Peter Subramanian was born in Philadelphia, PA to a social worker and a nurse. The household in which he grew up measured success in lives touched through service and passed the time listening to music from around the world; Carnatic violin and voice was his father's favorite while his mother preferred Motown, funk, and R&B. As soon as he was old enough, Peter was singing in the junior choir at Overbrook Presbyterian Church. At age 7 he began studying the violin via the Suzuki method, and at age 12 he joined the Keystone State Boychoir, attending rehearsals twice per week. Peter has been playing Irish and Scottish traditional music in High School and began regularly attending Irish sessions in Philadelphia in 2018. Before enrolling at Berklee College of Music, Peter spent some time working in various fields- summer camp counseling, groundskeeping, food service, and teaching violin. He now lives in Somerville, MA and regularly attends Irish sessions in the Boston scene.
